Last Blog

Since today is the last day for the blogging project, I decided to read everyones blog one last time. At the beginning of this class, we had to identify free resources that we can use in the library. The list of those free resources was impressive. Now, people are putting new free resources in their blogs. It is just mind-boggling what is out there! As a TL, I will need to decide what, when, and how to share those resources with my teachers so as not to overwhelm them.

Digital storytelling is a great tool to enhance students' projects. Making a video presentation will get students excited.

I want to thank everyone involved with the class for their sharing in their blogs, on Facebook, and mostly during class time. Several people spent individual time with me both during class and outside of class. As a digital immigrant, I had a lot to learn. That learning will not stop at the end of this class. I may be contacting some of you later for help!

Photo Peach Slide Show

I put photos that my husband took into Photo Peach. I learned about Photo Peach from Carla's blog. I tried to embed it here, but couldn't get it to work. It didn't do the same thing as Shelfari. So here is the link to my Photo Peach slide show Down by the River: http://photopeach.com/album/ppatcv

I also tried to use Photo Story which I learned about from Dixie last week. I downloaded it but couldn't open it. Hopefully, there will be time this Thursday for me to work out the bugs.

Video Project

Here's my video project. I used a digital camera and put it in Windows Movie Maker. I know that I need to pay more attention to lighting and try not to move the camera. This is the first time I have ever taken a video as we have not ever owned a personal video camera. (Does that make me a bad mom?)

Video Project

I worked on my video project this afternoon.  I had a student come to school for the taping.  I learned a lot about how to do it better next time, but I am pleased with my first effort.  This student was so excited to see how the video was put together.  I showed her my digital story and she can't wait to do one next year.  A big thank you to Dixie who sat with me in class last week and walked me through step by step in making a test video.

I Did It!

I knew there had to be something wrong with the way I was converting my power point to video. I went back and checked everything carefully and realized I had the wrong format. I needed the "sync audio with video". Therefore, I redid it and it worked! I then created a You Tube account and uploaded it to that. Then it was just a quick click to publish it on my blog. How exciting!

The water mark is there because I used a trial of the program.

Power Points

Wow! The presentations were great! I think it is very interesting how the power points wouldn't work the way we created them. You would think by now, computers would recognize one another better. This of course, should help us to be sympathetic when a student brings in a project that is made on a home computer and just won't work right on a school computer.

I tried to convert my power point to a DVD with the program Chelsea showed me. However, all I got was the narration, no video or music. I will try later to use slide share, which I have never used before.

Soundzabound Workshop April 1, 2009

I checked out this  DVD of the workshop given by Barry Britt of Soundzabound at AEA 267.  Maybe some of you attended.  The first two hours talk about Fair Use of music in education.  He shows how to navigate through the Soundzabound website, selecting the music you want.  He does a recording and putting narration with the music.  This is a great resource for music in digital stories.  If you are an AEA267 teacher, check out this DVD.

Everybody Has a Story to Tell

Check out this website for a lot of information about digital storytelling.

This is from a workshop on the topic. There are some really great examples for you to look at.

Digital Storytelling

Digital Story telling is new to me but I think it is a great idea. Won't the kids love to see their work on the big screen! They also will enjoy the process. I also think the students will be more excited to write if they know what they can do with their writing.
